Still no dyno sheets - damn! I would think for auto-crossing either the M2 BB twins or these secret weapon BNRs running sequential would be plenty to hang with any Z06. Even a close to stock FD running sequential can really blast out of corners. Full boost by 2700-3K rpms is awesome, especially in some cases where you can't shift. Below 3K rpms, non-seq is complete dog and even some of the most modded FDs running non-seq autocrossing would be outperformed.

Everyone that thinks non-seq would work well for auto-xing, I'd love to see them bring it to an auto-x and compete against the C5 and other seq FDs in my club.

i know what you guys are feeling. the only advantage i have on the z06's would be that our courses are long enough to top out second gear with a hint of thinking of going to third. its a waste of time to go to third but at that speed it takes a lot for a boat to slow down. the z06 seems to take a bit longer to slow down but they kill me on the tight corners. we must kill these guys before their head gets any bigger from taking our wins.

I don't if he ever got on the dyno since I tried to call the 2 local dynos we tend to use in Atlanta on the 26th and never got an answer. I don't know if he stayed in town thursday night and dynoed friday morning. My guess is around the 425 rwhp range at 16 psi, 11.0 to 1 a/f on a dynojet chassis....just my guess.

The main disadvantage i see to running them seq is you cuold be robbing yourself of useful power until 4500rpm. yet..IF there is a way to make the 2ndary turbo spool in at say...3500-4000rpm, that would be cool!

The FD is at a disadvantage coming out of the tight stuff compared to the competition. When our local club has really tight courses the Vettes can beat me by 1-2 sec. When the courses are more open I either beat them or come within ~.5 sec.

Yup thats pretty much the story, I'm going to the local Dynojet as soon as its open and running which should be about 2 weeks
I tried to change the plugs but I run B10egv's and due to the length the bolt part goes down into the whole and a special socket is required....which I didnt have with me.
They fouled because I sat in traffic for an hour and a half going an avg of 2mph. I'm running extremely rich at idle and my 10's didnt hold up to that.
Damn, it just my freak'n luck, it was a huge waist of my time. At least I got to meet a few cool people and hang out.
Anyway, sorry guys

Boost
Jeff is right about tight corners. On an open track I can beat the formula cars, not the shifter carts though. Ad in a couple of tight corners and I get beat by the formula guys and the vetts with big power. However if we can get 350 to 450 hp at the wheel at a very low RPM then we can do great with that power and our weight.
I am getting my car tuned at XS the week of the 5th. My first race will be on the 19th. I will let you guys know how they do with stock twins but all the other mods on my list. I have left out fuel because I will let them tell me what size injectors to go to.
Off subject, sorry.

They have 200hp. The extra 200-300lbs they have isn't a disadvantage when they have TWICE the HP at that RPM range.

What all mods do you have? Maybe the prob isnt so much when our power is but rather that your just not making enough power. Or maybe you need to down shift so your not coming out of a turn below 3K. If your BELOW 3K rpms you could have been down as many as 2 gears.
Its kinda like when all the Z28/C5 guys complain about having to switch gears in the middle of a race and I'm still goes....due to the 8K rpm redline.
The grass always seems to be greener on the other side.

The Man
Not flaming anyone, but there are some simple laws of physics that come into play, to say the "v8"'s have the advantage, maybe the case, but if you ever drive your FD at 2500rpm on a racetrack, do ME a favor and pull into the pits. You aren't out there conserving gas. The Rotary makes power at 5500 rpm and up, then you keep it in the rev range, that's what the transmission is for. If you are coming out of tight turns in 4th gear then you need to revisit basic driving instruction skills. I've been instructing Porsche Club, and Audi club events for better than 3 years, when I am exiting a turn behind a Viper or a Vette I can stay right with them, granted I have lightened the car some, but I am only running 12psi(318hp at tires, dyno'd) I have a 4.33 rear gear and usually exit in 2nd or third gear. If you know the power band you drive the power band. I run full 2.3-2.5mi road course and have only run one auto X, but at the auto X just keep the gears low, shoot out of the tight turns with Turbos hot, otherwise your wasting time. Let the flaming begin.

I'll be the first to start
Come on Art. I have as much experience road racing cars as you do autoxing.
I used to race open superbike for years and was very good. I raced at PIR, SIR, Willows, Laguna Secca ect. I have only only been on the road course once with my car. That was at button willow and there were only 2 instructors that weekend that were faster than me. Coming out of any of the turns at the above course car had lots of power. The only time I can say I ever had so much fun was racing my 900RR with 150 at the wheels.
Please understand I am talking about autoxing, not road racing. Since you have autoxed you know that the corners can be tight. Additionally you also know that you and your car are not nationally competitive in the game of autoxing.
Also remember in SS or ASP we cannot change the gears in the rear end. We are stuck with the 4.1 and must leave them. However if we want to go to the prepared class we can do lots to our car including change gears. However I am willing to bet of all the forum members there are less than 5 that run in AP or BP. Most members that autox run in SS, ASP, Novice, or SM2 because of their mods. Additionally many guys do autox just to have fun occasionally. However some of us are dead serious about competing nationally and doing well.
The problems with our car I have stated and are very evident at autox events. I am writting a letter to the SCCA rule board to try to make a couple of changes.
So in conclusion, you may be very good at the type of racing you do. Yes our car does very well in that arena and some of the shortcomings are really not bad espicially when you can compensate by changing gears.
All that said, please do not talk to me or a very few others on this forum that do know how to drive and are good in our game. We know about shift points, brake points, power band ect. If you like I will be in California quite a bit this year on the National tour and would love to see ya come out and race.
Thank you for your future courtesy.
Sincerely,
Allan

465 rwhp in a 2700 lb car - probably 3.0 seconds or less if you had et streets or DRs. That's alot of muscle for a light car.
Stephen I say post the graphs so everyone can get an idea - everyone's too excited. My turbos are installed and I should have a dyno this week barring nothing goes wrong - something always goes wrong
I remember him saying he had 235 rwhp by 3500 rpms - that in itself is pretty disgusting - that's 15-20 rwhp more the a stock FD makes at peak!
