Blown Motor? Not sure? Please Help!
I honestly don't know what to look for in a blown engine or the warning signs behind it. I have searched for my particular problem so I am sorry if this is a repeated question.
I have a 94 RX-7 with 99 spec twin turbos, a RX-7 store street ported engine. And a rebuild from when I bought the car about 6 to 7 thousand miles ago? Tonight I changed the oil, Castrol GTX 20w-50 (same oil Ive been using) its been running awesome with no problems until now. Apexi Power FC and Commander, 1300 CC secondary injectors, 850 CC Primaries. All cooling upgrades. But back to whats going on. I changed the oil and then took it out to drive it and wasnt hitting boost or anything. But around 3500 rpms it would start billowing black smoke? It smelled like **** and I dont really know what it was. Help would be great, I dont notice any difference in sound or feel of the car but I have also not hit boost yet for fear of something being wrong? Please Please help!

Black smoke is fuel. So probably a fuel problem then. Maybe with all your mods the car is running rich perhaps. I highly doubt your motor is blown believe me you would know it. Mainly at idle is where you can really tell you have a blown motor.

The vacuum line comes off its bottom, goes to a small filter, and then to the UIM.

I checked the map sensor and nothing seemed to be wrong. The smoke it whitish and doesnt happen under boost or anything under 3500. But once I hit about 3500 Ton and tons of smoke. Under load or not. Anybody at all know what it might be? I drained out some oil (I did overfill it by mistake.) And it still does it. If it was the oil would there be a few miles or so to burn out excess or what? I am not sure what really to do. Does anyone know who can work on a rotary in the Atlanta area? Please help.

white smoke is usually coolant.
I'd suggest taking Goodfella's advice and taking your car to a reputible, compitent rotary shop.
check here for a good shop in your area. https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/

I got the car checked out and Is it possible that it could be a bad oil seal in my engine? Just wanting to double check. We pulled the spark plugs after a few seconds of smoking then checked them and there was oil all over it. I am not sure or not. if so how much would something like that cost to fix? I am guessing at LEAST 1000?

sorry sally, didnt mean to get your panties in a bunch. And it was constructive. Why not do it? Its one of the most reliable(not sure if you know what that means) motors out there..not to mention the power/performance. I do love rotaries but ive owned both (obviously) and I wouldnt change back if you paid me.

This is a section for the rotary-engined rx-7, go hang out in the 'other engine conversion' section or torquecentral
