Blown Motor?

I always see 3rd gens for sale on the net, saying blown motor, what do you think the problem is with these cars, from a majority standpoint. Is the motor really blown, or does a seal just need to be replaced. How much would a rebuild cost with 2mm seals? thx

Usually the motor in a 7 is good for about 80,000 on average. I don't know if they're actually blown or not, but you can usually get a rebuild for a couple of grand.

Well, I just seemed to have popped my motor, What seems to have happened was that my cat got clogged. Pressure increased till it blew a seal I am guessing. I do not have the time nore the money at the moment to check things out (student). Well I was quoted at $3500.

I think if the seals need to be replaced, its better just to have everthing replaced why you are in there. You know the new sport compact car is starting it series on the rx7 again and it starting with a rebuild.
