blew my ignition timer

I don't know how, and I don't know why, BUT....

I BLEW MY HKS DUAL IGNITION CONTROLLER!!! It happened at a red light and blah blah blah....

Now... questions...

1.) I think the reason why it blew is cuz I have a short somewhere? Would carbon buildup on my spark plugs cause a short?
(don't ask me about the install. I had Dave at KDR do it cuz she was in for a tranny rebuild...but if it were the install, i'm thinking there might've been a short somewhere....???)

2.) Just to get a second opinion....I shouldn't have any problems running the car though she'd run a little lean... right!? (I turned down the boost, just in case...and she was dyno-tuned by dave too...)
