Bleah, sometimes working on this car is like pulling teeth.

So I decided to do the FC thermoswitch mod before the track this weekend. Should be a 45 minute job, no problem, right? Everything was going smooth till idiot me fumbled the new thermoswitch while trying to thread it into the housing and it fell into the bowels of hell. Usually when I drop something it ends up in the undertray which is a minor nuisance. This thing fell somewhere deep between the twins and the block right above the oil pan. Ended up having to take off not only the alternator, but the strut bar, intake, IC piping, air pump, undertray, etc. and fishing around with the telescoping magnet for several hours while alternating between lying in a pool of coolant and permanently contorting my spine. To add insult to injury, in the process I managed to break one brittle harness wire and two vacuum lines. So my 45 minute project turned into 4 hours because of a stupid mistake. All part of the joy of FD ownership ;P

At least your problems were just from fumbling a part. I run into problems just through my own incompetence. I was going to put on a Greddy BOV tonight (I hear they make the car go faster ), but the BOV wouldn't mount where the adapter should go because my hose was too short since it had been modified by a PO for another intake. I moved the mount but now my AVC-R solenoid wouldn't go where I had initially mounted it. I moved the AVC-R solenoid to another location, but had to get more slack in the wiring harness. I then had to shift my upper intake pipe a bit to clear the new mounting location for the solenoid but now the BOV wouldn't clear the intake pipe. You get the idea.

I finally put everything back the way it was and will tackle it again later. Unfortunately, I lent my DD to my sister for a week so the FD has to be running every morning to get to the office.

yep... i feel your pain. My car's been one thing after another since i got it.
Arrives on the flatbed, and after the first rip, the engine turns out to be hurt.
Rebuild engine...

Stock ecu is freaking out with the mods that are on the car.
Power FC time...

get the car tuned, and finally to pass emissions, and i have a wiring issue. I pull the driver's kick panel off, and find spaghetti. Cut wires, poor splices, non-soldered connections, and what looks to be the leftovers from a poorly done car alarm . stereo install.

Oh, and the marker lights keep shorting out. They'll stop blowing fuses, if i go from a 15 amp up to a 20. so i now have the interior mostly out to track down a small short somewhere.

Yep, ownership has its headaches. My wife just laughs

oh god. that's ugly.

where'd the nut end up? stopped in the bottom of the LIM, or did it drop right into the port?
