blackbox next to ecu?

Ok I was wiring upmy ecu back inmy car and i noticed there is a 10-12pin black connector there that wasnt plugged into anything.. so i searched for a while and i cannot find where it goes.. so my buddy let melook at his and its plugged into a seperate brain box sort of thing.. looks like a small black box that rests next to the ecu.. does anyone know if thats needed and what it controls?? and if its needed where I can find one?? I for some reason do not have one on my car.. and i have a feeling i need it..

anyone help???

the Electric Load box/control, which as flash says starts the radiator fans under certain conditions other than just temp.

sothats strictly fan control? then?? itwouldnt affect my interrior lights such as my odometer reading correct??

whenever i power up my car.. the odometerbacklighting will turn on but no numbers will pop up..

i was figuring that that box might have been a brain box for it or something..

it seems i have some issues i need to work out..
