Big Big Question Need Answer

Well i got this rx7 stock and i well soon turn it into a beast like my mr2. Well before i do this road racing with my rx7 i want to know somethings. I heard that you can't down shift like other regular car or the engine well blow. And that if you miss gear same result as ^. Well tell me something i need to know guys before i go crazy and do something wrong. Thx so much guys.

Wow, whoever told you that is an idiot. If you missed a gear and that blew up your engine then ****, every damn RX-7 in the world would be blown!

Only thing i can think of is if your transmission does not have the updated 5th gear synchro then missing 3rd can result in a damaged 5th gear synchro and resulting grinding.

But yes you can downshift..

Read the newbie link in the stickies before you do anything.

you can downshift and the engine won't blow as long as you rev match (heel/toe) and make sure you aren't going into a lower gear that would cause the engine the spin higher than it's max RPM...and as with any car, not just rotary cars, if you miss shift, chances are high that you might blow your engine or at least cause serious engine damage...don't really know if it's as detrimental on a rotary as it is on a piston engine with the valve train being all jacked up if you over rev
