Get tuned leaner, keep your foot out of it or park it.
9mpg in the city DD...
umm hey...maybe you should start searching. how many threads have you created so far? this site has been up for a few years, topics like the ones that you've posted has been covered many many MANY times before.

General principles for better mileage with most cars:
1. Small (width) tires at high pressures
2. Full synthetic lubricants, as light weight as will not harm the engine, trans, diff
3. Drive as if there was an egg between your foot and the gas and brake pedals (for the FD, that means never boost)
4. Shut off the car any time you are stopped
5. Coast in neutral down hills
6. Anticipate stops, decelerate as far in advance as possible
6. Do not use AC
7. At highway speeds, drive with all windows closed
8. Use as warm an engine thermostat as possible to reduce heat loss to coolant
And some other things I've probably forgotten...

Pump up the tires. Most people drive around on under-inflated tires. Having the proper pressure is one of the cheapest and easiest things you can do that will actually increase your mileage. Don't go too high though, or you'll get accelerated wear in the center of your tread.
Obviously, stay out of boost while accelerating onto the highway.
When crusing at highway speeds, drive as close to 65 mph as possible. One good estimation of your engine's efficiency is to watch your boost gauge when crusing.
Try to aim for around -10 vacuum numbers. When you are going up hills, that number will increase to -4 as the engine sucks more gas. Set your engine power levels to keep that vacuum number down. I've gotten up to 24 mpg on extended highway travel using this trick.

sounds like some nice tips but the best one is this buy a 4cyl daily driver like a honda civic.
i tried all sorts of things but its so hard to not accelerate in the FD so i figured instead of filling up twice a week at $100 total buy a real daily driver. its $20 to fill the honda's 10 gallon tank and i get about 300+ miles easily mostly city.

- Drive to a car dealer and trade in your FD for a Prius.
OK seriously, just drive like a complete wuss. Accelerate slowly, don't go over the speed limits, just try to maintain a steady rate at all times. Always try to be in the highest gear the car will tolerate reasonably well. For example, don't drive around at 3350 rpm in 2nd gear to go 30 mph, use 3rd and do around 2300 instead, or 4th and do 1700 if the terrain is flat and the car doesn't complain.
The big killer for fuel economy is driving around at small throttle openings where the engine has to suck hard through the small opening.
