Engine rebuild, cat-back, intake

There, you're out of money. Thanks for playing.

(assuming you already have the car) Engine compression check.

Reliability mods (Radiator, silicon hoses, Aluminum AST, DP, etc) first.

Intake, SMIC, Catback, ECU, Tranny brace, Dif brace, water injection and a tune..

Game over.

Invest in stocks. Wait 4 years for the economy to regain it's power. Sell shares. Sell 13b, buy 20b.

That is totally reasonable on a $6,000 budget. :P

My bad, on that note. Put all the money you can into a giant intercooler and turbo. Get a manual boost controller and crank it up. It will be fine.

(Don't actually do this)

Honestly though, a good upgrade would probably full exhaust, bigger intercooler, PowerFC, and up the boost. Maybe new fuel system too.

I would save some for a extra core since you want to be realistic and save time and stress, if you want more reliable mods go for suspension, brakes and the weak points the car comes with (plastic ast as ex) and should do ok, power wise 6k can get you goin, but remember apex seals can be picky and if you don't know the hole story of the existing block you can end up with a grenade since a lot don't rebuild properly and replace all parts so a extra blocks is a biiiig must and spend the money when needed and replace all your old or crappy parts, saves you woes and more money spend replacing things multi times. Also the search button will save you so much time and flaming there are tons of old write ups and mods list to hit what you want more likely and if not you can at least take a set up and adjust to your preferences, best mod you can do for your car is research.

assuming the motor you have isn't blown up....

Rebuild with a street port, and minor bolt ons and the car will be very quick. Fast enough for street driving.

Some....interesting advice given here.

In any case, whatever you do if it involves getting a new ECU such as a PFC and upping the boost, make sure you have the right amount of fuel to offset your boost levels so you don't lean out and go boom boom.

Bottom line : DON'T NEGLECT YOUR FUEL SYSTEM! Invest in a high quality pump, injectors (if you plan on raising the boost by any significant number), FPR, etc, etc. Also, as was stated, it wouldn't hurt to have the motor rebuilt/ported as well. At the very least do a compression test and make sure you have a healthy running motor before modding.

Otherwise, the obvious mods have been listed...breathing mods such as intake, exhaust, better IC...upgraded ECU, upgraded fuel system, etc, etc. It's also worthwhile investing in some sticky tires, too. With proper traction you don't need an insane amount of power to put down respectable times.

Best thing you could do is ignore what everyone on here said and read the FAQ thread so you gain enough knowledge to figure out what to do with your money.

Why have people you don't know spend your hard earned money w/o doing your own research?
