Best fitting seat rails?

Hey friends,

In your experience which seat rails fit the best? Looking for a low seat for more headroom and must be stable. Price isn't a concern, just quality.

Thanks in advance!

The Bride Low Max rails work well and lower the seat more than any I have seen.

I have them installed with my Sparco Evos. Even with the low position I still had to trim a bit off the bottom of the buckets to sit low enough for me. Needed to clear the roof with a helmet on. I am 6 feet tall.

I haven't tired the personally, but I've been interested in the Planted non adjustable seat 'rail'. Might be a good option if you are on the taller side.

I have Bride Low Max as well.

It is open on the back so you can get the bottom of the seat as low as possible.

But that won't help get your seat to the floor if your seat hits the rail under the side mounting position. It will work for seats with narrow drop down rear seating section.

See how the Bride seats designed for the Lowmax system drop down and narrow at the rear mounting position?

If you are tall you need the seat high in the front and low in the back for a more reclined position- Bride Lowmax rail (ending in LF) can do this.

------------

But, if you also need a wider seat the Lowmax might not be the right rail because it centers the seat to the steering wheel for best driving position.

You can fit a wider seat by moving the seat to the side from center a bit.

Lowmax does not attempt to do this however, you could just get different seat brackets that are slotted where the bracket mounts to the rail to move side to side.

------------
That planted seat bracket does not look like it could get the seat low (the seat would hit the bar in the back?).

The Garage Star bracket is open design in the rear that will even work with seats that don't narrow and drop at the back like Bride Lowmax system seats.

Unfortunately, the front does not go very high so it is limited on recline ability, so it might not help a tall person fit in the FD.

I have a Bride Vios III seat with the lowmax LF rail. With rear of the seat mounted in the lowest hole, it doesn't position the rear of the seat all the way to the floor like I was hoping it would. I can still fit 2 fingers between the lowest part of the seat and the floor. Has anyone tried the garage star brackets with any Bride lowmax seats in a fd? If so how low do they get the rear of the seat?

Like I said in my earlier post, you can trim the back bottom outside of the seats to get them to drop as low as you want them. I used a dremel to notch out a small section of where the seat bucket hits the rails in the back. It doesn't take much to get the seat to drop as low as you need it, or all the way to the floor if you like. I posted up pics of this in the "What seats fit?" thread. Check it out. For me, I only needed to trim maybe about a 1.5 inch notch in the bucket to get the fit perfect for me.

To be clear I am looking for a low and flat seating style, I had a issue sitting in a FD where the steering wheel would rub my legs just above the knee...

If you go with an aftermarket steering wheel that will help the wheel touching your legs. I have an aftermarket D-shaped wheel with a 1" spacer that does great. Bringing the steering wheel closer to you will make a lot more knee room.

I'm 6'6" and I need a lot of leg room .

Hi Dale,

That's great info. I was imagining a lower seat and smaller wheel would help. The spacer was a great addition. Any suggestions for what fits best? What do you use personally?

Thanks
