Best car cover for the FD

Hi=)
Just have a very simple question:
What is the best car cover to get for the FD?

I will put mine in winter storage, and i want a cover that will protect it and keep it from getting dirty or scratces. It should ofcourse be of good quality, and made to fit the FD.
I have seen OEM ones available, but i am not sure if they are the best option out there?

I would think the OEM would be the best...but that's just a guess

OEM ones are not that great to be honest. I've had a few over the years. California car covers makes a nice one. Will set you back 3 bills.

Have any of you tried the various types and have some basis for comparison?
I am one of them guys with "OEM-insanity" and i would love to get a Mazda cover, but i have to be sure its good quality, and not just pricy because it says "Mazda" on the bag.

EDIT: I just checked out california car covers and they make a good case on their premium covers. 333USD is a lot, but where the OEM is at around 200, i think it might be a good choise to get the absolute premium of what the aftermarket can supply.

I had an OEM cover, and it was very nice. Came with the car from the last owner when I first bought it, it was brand new. Fit like a glove, and even had "Mazda" embroidered on the hood. Unfortunately, they're not water proof, they'll just soak up the water. I now have a California Car Cover Superweave that was about $300 shipped that is 100% waterproof that also fits like a glove. I prefer it over the OEM simply for its difference and quality of the material.

Im telling you. Car capsule is the way to go for winter storage.

I literally bounced a 2.5lb hammer off the bubble. And no bugs. Nothing touching your paint. It's perfect for seasonal or even long term storage.

I got a nice custom made-to-order dustop cover, iirc it was from carcovers.com or similar. Google dustop car covers - I think dustop is a type of cover offered under one line. Money well spent. Much nicer than my 350Z OEM cover was

check out Covercraft Industries - Custom Car Covers - Custom Seat Covers - Custom Sunscreens - Custom Bras

I had a cover from them for my old 91 accord and it fit the FD pretty well.

If the car's outside, Noah covers have a great rep. Covercraft is a great place to start, no matter how you store the car.

Covercraft and Coverking.

You get what you pay for, and a quality cover is very important. Especially if it is outdoors. You can potentially do more damage with an average car cover than leaving it sitting bare.

The car will be stored indoor. I wont put it outside with the kind of weather we have here. Snow, rain, wind and all kind of stuff. We can get down to -15F in the winters here. Also, i am not putting it on my own property, but renting a spot in a huge garage made for this kind of storage. The car will be parked, wrapped, and not touched until it is unwrapped and moved back out the next spring.

So, are there anyone else here with experience with the OEM cover?

Btw, this is a picture from the storage place, mostly used for camping cars like you see, but there are a few sportcars there also.

Do you have access to an outlet while it is there?

If you want to get an "OEM" cover for $200 when you can get something else that fits just as well and with much higher quality for the same price... Then go right ahead. Apparently paying extra for something that has "Mazda" printed on it is somehow justified.

Thats exactly what i dont want the "Mazda" name on it is worth a bit, but not that much. If they are the same quality, but one is OEM, i would buy the OEM if it was a bit more expensive. But since most say that the custom premiums ate much better, then i will go for that

I dont have access to a wallsocket but that capsule will be on my list of things to get when i get my own house with garage

So i have been browsing a bit and the Coverking Stormproof looks tempting, because of the added bonus that i can put it on the car when its outdoor. Its not going tp be use much, but in case there is a storm or something, i can put it on the car so that flying debree does not damage the paint.

Anyone got expereince with it?

I have a California Car Cover that I use in the garage and it has been great. It was around $400 but it fits my car perfectly with my R1 lip, rear diffuser, and sideskirts. I believe the one I have is the Superweave HD.

I use a coverking and love it. Its what nissan uses for their oem gtr covers. We only used coverking to protect all the gtr's at Boost Logic.
