The Profec B controls only the Wastegate actuator and not the PCA. The best method, IMHO, is to wire Profec B to the WGA (You really can't beat the profec for relative cost and simplicity of install) and to put in a manual valve in the PCA (or different sized jets). The more modded your car is, the larger you should make the jet in the PCA line.

The Profec will control the level of boost throughout the RPM range, but the PCA will control the level of spiking/lag on the transition. i.e. if the jet is too large, you'll get a spike, and if the jet is too small, you'll get a large dip. If you run with no jets in the PCA, you'll get 7psi of boost up to 4500 rpms, and then whatever boost your Profec is set at.

Hmm... I was under the impression the Profec B was able to control both the pca and wastegate. Happy I didn't go and buy one yet...
Are there any boost controllers that control the pca and wastegate seperately?

I liked the idea that the SBC-ID cut boost and gives an audible and visual alert when hitting your preset limit. Great stuff when it's cold outside. I also like the idea that the SBC-ID lets you adjust boost I believe per gear or speed with power meter. I can say it completely changed the way my car performed. The car feels like a V8 at times, the way the boost comes on. SCC magazine stated that it helped the car achieve the most boost and came in second to the Profec B by a small margin in eliminating spiking.

I think the boost controller that comes along with the pfs pmc works great.

Can you please tell me your setup. I can't get mine to work.

Here's how I have it hooked up.

Boost pills in place.
Nipples on motor facing up 1,2,3

1-goes to the turbo, splits to the 2 nipples, you know the ones. This is where the pills are located.

2-splits to wastegate and precontrol

3-to UIM

Other sides of the wastgate and precontrol blocked off, so are the lines leading to them from their actuators(solenoids).

Red wire from the motor goes to the diag. box, I forgot which pin, black wire is grounded.

Please tell me if this is your setup.

The AVC-R only comes with one solenoid, hence does not control the pre-control and wastegate separately. You can either run both the PC and wastegate through the same solenoid (I don't think this works, but that's what the instructions for FD3s say), or just have it control the wastegate.

Someone with a PFC please answer me this question:

From the graph that was posted, it appears that that when a solenoid is in its active regime (eg. precontrol under 4500) that the duty cycle is NOT fixed, but that it is being adjusted. Is this being done closed loop, or is it simply preprogrammed? So when you 'set' the duty cycle on your PFC, what are u really setting?

allenhah- Yeah, that is the way we are hooking it up. Have an HKS SBC spec S for the wastegate, and going to use a manual controller on the pre control...
