I have a M2 intake... And no you cant have it.. haha
M2 Performance is long gone. They folded up shop many years ago. You can find the ECU's used, but you can't get a new one from them. The difference in the Cali verses non-Cali ECU's is the EGR. If you have a non-Cali '93 car and you use a Cali ECU, you'll have the EGR engine code. It won't cause performance problems, but just a code that will be annoying.
If you have a Cali '93 car and you use a non-Cali ECU, your emissions will suffer a little as you won't have the expected EGR operation.

lots of good info and I'd recommend a PFC if you have the funds HOWEVER it does not mean you'll blow your motor if you don't.
I have run this setup for about 7 years with absolutely NO motor issues:
Intake, High flow cat, DP,IC, CB, Streetport on the stock ECU.
Twins are stock port however one of the first things I did was get a boost controller (manual) and have kept it at ~9psi to be on the safe side. It if is very cold out I monitor boost and adjust accordingly.
The major thing when modifying on the stock ECU is to keep boost levels STRICTLY at stock levels or lower.
I opted to get my FD at a young age (16) so most of the money that normally would go to upgrades (ie PFC)were spent on initial purchase, gas, and maintenance.

I'm no expert, but I don't think you'll blow your motor by adding an intake. I have an exhaust, and down pipe and added an apexi intake without any problems. i'm adding an ic now. like i said, i'm not a professional but if you look at those who are like the links below, they don't reccommend a computer till after intake and exhaust.
