Question Battery Relocation: Remove Storage Bins?

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but I have not had luck finding it, so I'm going to have to apologize in advance.

I'm planning to follow moconnor's battery relocation write up (which includes not cutting the bins), but I'm not sure if I should be planning to remove the bins or not. I know that in his thread, he mentions that he did not remove the bins, but I'm confused about how he gained access to attach the ground as well as how he took the pictures of the bins from the bottom.

I'll remove the bins if I need to...I would just rather not.

Thanks!

I had to remove mine to attach the ground and run my vent tube.

Thanks for the replies and in particular rejckt for taking the time to draw a diagram. I was thinking the way you diagrammed, but I thought moconnor mentioned the grounding point was under the bins. Oh well...I think I'll get off the pot and remove them (I've got an aversion to removing the side panels for some reason ).

You drill through the body to create a grounding point. Sand down the paint and attach the ground straight to the chassis under the bin. So yes bin removal is necessary. I did it an am very satisfied. No need for grounding kits etc. I used 0 gauge wires for everything.

You can use one of the the chair bolts as a grounding point as well.

Thanks all. I actually went ahead and removed the bins and it was way easier than I expected (especially with one of those interior panel pry tools from HF). I was just making sure, and thanks again for affirming.
