I've got a Die Hard battery that was new when I got the car over 5 years ago. Never had a bit of trouble out of it. Even when my alternator went dead and the lights, etc, were putting a hell of a strain on the battery.

Subject: CCA comparison with Optima batteries
I am thinking about purchasing a 925 or 1200. One thing I noticed is that the CCA rating for the two batteries is lower than the Optima Yellow top batteries of the same weight.

What accounts for the difference?
Reply:
info@odysseybatteries.com Our CCA rating is based on 30 seconds of cranking at zero degrees. The Optima specs are based on the starting power of the battery at zero degrees. They are different tests. Cranking on an engine for 30 seconds will ruin your starter and it shouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds to spin your motor. The PC925 has 925 cranking amps and the PC1200 has 1200 cranking amps. The Optima Yellow top has 900 cranking amps but is physically larger the PC925 or 1200. Our PC1500 is the same size as an Optima but has 1500 cranking amps.
