Low battery voltage, alternator trouble.

Did the hold light start flashing? Kinda sounds like it went into limp mode.

Its most likely the battery or the alternator. Contact me if you would like a 140 amp upgrade for the alternator.

I just had the same lights two weeks or so ago. The first problem I found was the charging cable to the voltage regulator was not tightened down. So after I fixed that about a mile down the road the lights came back on. I noticed the the alt was putting out a steady 11.4v. Just as I was about to buy a new alt I realized that belt was really loose. After I looked closer I found that the alt bracket was not tightened down all the way. After I tightened everything back down I was getting 14v again. I would say if the alt is not loose then it is probably bad.
