base models pre-wired for fog lights?

I did a search but couldn't find anything conclusive, so I'll just ask here outright:

Are base model FD's pre-wired for the fog lights used on Touring models?

My friend gave me the lights and brackets off of his '93 Touring, and I bought the factory switch. I think I found a harness near the front bumper that looks like it would plug into the lights, but I can't find the harness in the console to attach the switch to.

If it's not there, it won't be a problem to wire it all up like I would an aftermarket set, but I'd hate to put more work into it than I needed to.

Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

Here is a fuzzy answer.

Yes and No.

I'm pretty sure the body wiring harness has the wiring required for factory fog lights, it is the dash harness that isn't wired for the fog light switch (dash harness connects center console stuff).

pretty sure jeff is right on that one. there is a plug on the body, but none under the center console.

That would match what I've found in the car. Probably easiest just to wire it all up separately rather than try to to attach the switch to half a factory setup. Thanks for the prompt replies!

I had the same problem. I took the stock foglight out and cleaned, painted and replaced the bulbs. I bought the stock fog switch and now, there is nowhere to plug it in. If you wanted to go the OEM route, do I need to get a different (touring model) harness?

i believe there is a short harness piece that goes from the battery area to where the fog lites mount. i was going to order one last year and was told that it was the last one available - production of that part ceased. it was around $50 as i recall. too much for a few pieces of wire and plastic connector. i did order an oem switch and wire my aftermarket lights - no problem.

By the way, what is the trick (or process) of removing the OEM assemblies from the car. I bought some 55W H3's to upgrade the pathetic 35W bulbs already in there from the factory, and will try to polish or smooth out the lenses while they are out too (the are pitted up pretty badly - 163K).
