Ball joints for Front Control Arms
Ball joints for Front Control Arms
I purchased the Delrin Bushing kit for my 93 FD and I am in the process of installing them. However, I noticed that it would be wise to go ahead and replace the 4 ball joints on the front control arms. Does anyone know where I can get new ones? And also, how hard is it to change them out? It looks like a royal pain in the ***. I'll post up some pics of my install within the next 2 or 3 days. I am sand-blasting the arms and cleaning everything up real nice.
I just finished replacing every single bush in the rear last week with Super pro bushes and OEM pillow ball bushes. Like you I thought about changing the front as well but decided against it as the front were actually fine even after 150 000km's.
The 2 bushes in the front Upper Arm is similar to the rear but the Lower arm does look quite difficult to take off due to the size of it. I reckon if nothing is wrong with them don't replace them but if your keen Super pro sell a kit for the Upper and Lower arms in the front.
Oh and remember after you put the car back together drive it very carefully and straight to a wheel alignment shop. My car spun out making a slow right turn as my alignment was totally totally off so please be careful.

The front control arms have bushings in them. These are replaceable.
The ball joints in the front control arms are not replaceable. I suggest you inspect them carefully and replace only as needed. (The arms are around $500/ea)

damn, that is what I figured. Well, they are not bad, but since I had it all apart I was contemplating the idea. Ok. You guys need to check out my pictures in the next 2 or 3 days. I will put together a build-up portfolio (if you want to call it that, haha).
