Baffled by wiring
Im trying to hook up the indiglo light for my boost gauge. Im trying to find a positive wire prefereably under the dash. I have a wire tester that lights up when touching positive/neg. wires whichever i have it set for, but i could not find one positive wire in the whole car except in the engine bay. I tested all the wires under the dash, and in the center console. The most confusing part: The light in the ashtray- has two wires running to it which i assumed were the ground and power, and neither of which came up positive or neg. Blows my mind. As always i appreciate any help

Another thing: try turning the lights on or off. I'm pretty sure the ashtray is lit whenever the key is ON, while other components will turn on and off depending on the headlights/parking lights etc...

i ran mine from the ashtray connector its the solid red i belive and the red with black dots are positive, im pretty sure ill look tonight when i get home. but run that and you can have the 12 v source and the *** lights to boot.
i also ran a 10' perma cool fan and use the same 12 volt source so i can leave the button to control the fan on. i would forget to turn the button off,and drain my oddessy pc-680 batt, so now it shuts off when i turn the parking lights off or om. hope this helps

thanks fellas, the problem was when testing the wires for + or - i was using a spare battery - for the ground. Dumb. I ended up cuting into the ashtray light and works great. Thanks

Oops, maybe too late but, I used a "make a circuit" that is a fuse holder that plugs into a spare slot in the circuit box below the pillar. Provides fused power for all my gauges. I tapped the ashtray wire for dimmer control on the gauges. No cutting and reversable.
