Bad TPS?

Hey guys,

I am trying to adjust my TPS but cant seem to get the readings to specification.
So to test out my TPS I took it off the throttle body and manually rotated spring plastic inside the TPS till I cant rotate it anymore (so maximum throttle?). The maximum values reach up to 3.6-3.8 V on both VTA1 & VTA2 only. Specs say it needs to be in the 4.2-5 V range.

Can this be a proper test to prove that its faulty? I've read somewhere it can be cleaned but dont see how it can be opened up for cleaning.

Current car issues,
- Hard start
- Idles at 1300rpm
- Giving it a lilttle gas will cause the engine to stumble and back fire alot and engine wont decelerate after

History of the car.
I picked this up in April and it was parked for 6 years from the previous owner. Rebuilt engine with about 10k miles. Compression is 3 even bounces on both front and rear. 110psi max on front and 90psi for the rear. Hoping the rears just has a stuck seal.

thx
j

Vacuum leak??? However, the backfiring may suggest something more serious.

Bump

the spring on that piece is pretty touchy. i just went through this with my car.

my symptoms would come and go: idling rough, backfiring, sometimes dying when it was hot outside; at freeway speeds it might...'buck', that's what it felt like to me anyway.

a new tps and zeroing out the throttle body solved these issues.

it sounds like a combination of issues. the tps sounds bad and the plugs may be fouled
