bad idle problems
So, i finally got my rx7 to start after a serious flooding issue. i replaced the spark plugs, sprayed out the flooded fuel, and got the car to start with some starter fluid. like i read it billowed out smoke while i was revving it. i actually had a guy who owned an fc stop to tell me i blew an apex seal, lol. it did kind of feel like it at first, but when i drove it home, the only problem i had with it was the car not wanting to idle at all. i had to keep giving it gas to force it to idle. i do have a pfc, but i did the idle learn, and it ran fine, not for long, but fine until i had the flooding issue. i am non seq and have a 3 in dp. other than that pretty stock. anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue. i was thinking about re learning the idle for the pfc, but i would rather not do that if it is a simple fix.

Try adjusting the throttle adjustment screw on the front of the throttle body its the vertically oriented one. Undo the lock nut and screw it down a little see if that helps your idle. You also have the air adjustment screw underneath the elbow. Both of these can affect your idle but I would mess with the TAS first and then the AAS. good luck

That's usually indicative of a problem, and I can't say that it doesn't sound like a blown apex seal. As was recommended so many times on here, start by doing a quick inspection to make sure none of the hoses popped off - especially the one at the MAP sensor. That will make it idle like poop and will smoke and stink something nasty. Also check the vacuum hose at the fuel pressure regulator. If everything checks out OK, do a compression test.

On a stock FD, there are a few things that can affect your idle.
Vacuum leak
Idle solonoidd failing or needs cleaning
TPS out of adjustment
Thermo wax rod/fast idle cam sticking or failing
Throttle Adjust Screw on the radiator side of the Throttle body out of adjustment
Idle Air Screw on the bottom side of the Throttle body out of adjustment.
There are many posts about setting the idle properly. Search!! You are on the right track though. Definately confirm your compression is good, then adjust your TPS and go from there.
