Bad Clutch = New Clutch

Just got a few upgrades done on my car and I think I may have too many mods for my clutch.

Since I got my car (about a month ago), every time I give it a lot of gas I could smell a light odor. It smelled very similar, if not identical to burning up your tires, so I figured it wasnt a problem because I thought it was the tires since it only happend when I practiced my take-off and so on.

Anyway, come to find out, I guess it was my clutch. I just got some MSD wires and NGK plugs installed and I could feel a huge power difference and a lot smoother ride. After about an hour of driving all my gears started stalling at 3k RPMs and then would jump up to about 6.6k RPMs out of nowhere.

I noticed it instantly and pulled over with the car off to check out the engine, make sure everything looked and sounded ok, and it did. But then when I turned my car back on and tried to take off, it went nowhere, no roll or anything at all, even up to 6k RPMs in 1st gear, I BURNED MY CLUTCH !

This sucks. Anyway, I'll be looking to get a new clutch tomorrow I may go to a few shops and check some things out and get some numbers, if all else fails, I'll order one online so I can have it overnighted on Monday...

I use my car for street use and I need a high performance clutch, any recommendations?

ACT - SRX7.com

330RWHP and the clutch is still kicking. Get the street/strip. Do not get the 6 puck.

yea man, just like i told you, it was the clutch. go with the ACT for the price. take it to one of the tranny shops in town. i suggest against me changing that since i do not have the time for something so major. a tranny shop can do it in two days tops. this may set you back on a few of the other mods, but hey atleast you will get teh car back on the road quickly. ill be looking up the part numbers today and then i will check with my connection to see what i can do for you. these damn cars, we love them so much we hate them.

well i have never dealt with a clutch from an rx7. i did say two day tops as many shops have lots of business. they should be able to do it in a matter of hours, but from what i have read everyone makes the rx7 tranny seem difficult.

If you are just replacing the clutch and have never done it before it will take you roughtly half a day by using:

Good luck,
