backfire

havin been drivin my 13b now for a while but every week i start it up and let it do a fue cycles .but today after a long day polishing it i started it up and it started first time.after knocking off the aws it backfired load i let it warm up a bit more gave it a bit of throttle and it backfired again like a fire cracker.has car gone into limp mode?car has 80kilo ,idle was 1000rpm car usuall idles a bit higher so it felt close to cutting out ,boost guage read 250 mm/hg with slight fluctuation..engine mods airfilters , exhaust [cat back]any help would be great thanks

backfiring is normal on an rotary. mine does it all the time. haha

mine backfires with the cat still in it.

it's just not as loud as a straight thru exhaust backfire...

on my previous FD i had both the stock pre-cat & the main cat and it would backfire...it wouldn't throw flames but it would pop.

Mine backfires too. Sometimes it's even repetitive...putputput.

yea backfireing is fine, especially if you have some sort of flow mods, like downpipe, cat back or mid pipe. The Rotary engines, waste fuel some times, and it will ignite in the exaust after some throttle, especially when not warmed up, and cause backfire.

Even brand new FDs would occasionally backfire. With all the packing in the factory muffler, it sounded like a quiet puff from directly behind the car (& almost like a gunshot with only a catback). IIRC, coming down from AWS was one thing that could trigger it.

I think your vacuum is equivalent to 12" Hg, which is a bit low for 1000 RPM. Are you having any other problems with it? The first/easiest thing is to check the line to the MAP sensor.
