B&M Shifter not centered

When I was installing my B&M short throw shifter I notice that the four bolts that needed to be taken out in order to install the new shifter. The top right bolt was not accessable....after looking at other 3rd gens in person and pictures on the forum I noticed that mine sits off to the right just a bit. What caused this? Bent subframe....looked and didn't notice anything really except for a scratch and a small thumb size dent in it, I recently had the car at a body shop to get repainted and they put the car up and it came out straight (if the car isnt right they would have been more than happy to charge extra $$$$$ to straighten the car out). So what gives??? I know someone might say SEARCH but I have already done so without being able to find anyone with a similar problem...also if you notice I dont hardly post on the forum because I mainly only use the search function.

Thanks

It could also be sagging or bad motor mounts - they make the whole drivetrain out of alignment.

The entire engine, transmission, PPF and differential are mounted to the car at only four points: the two engine mounts and the two diff mounts. When one or more of those get worn out things move around.

There is a procedure in the FSM for lining up the driveline. I don't remember the page number off hand, but I've helped perform the procedure before.

the only thing I remebered in the FSM about this was making sure to bolt the PPF up to the differential first before the transmission. So do you guys think its the motor mounts? I think that would be cheaper to replace then another subframe. Also isn't it a pain to chance out motor mounts....mainly cause they will start leaking oil if not done correctly?
