B&M shifter install question...
Am I to reuse the plastic piece (spherical bearing) at the end of the oem shifter?
If so, is it possible to remove it from the old shifter without breaking it and how (tips)?
Thanks for all assistance.

Absolutely! It is hard to get off - be careful. But most people don't put this on their new shifter and they hve a rattling problem - I put my B&M in a few weeks ago and have never had a rattling problem -I think it's because of that plastic piece.

That's interesting. I just installed the Mazdatrix shortshifter and it came with the end cap on it. But, it was very stiff to move around since it hadn't been lubed up. I say do your best to get the stock one on there.

Problem resolved.
The oem spherical plastic tip DOES come off the shifter and fits the B&M unit just like the original one. Just tried it.
Case closed.
Thank-you gentlemen.

For anyone else trying to get that plastic shifter bushing off, here's a tip: hold the bottom of your shifter, with the bushing attached, in a pot of boiling water for a few seconds. Now take the bushing off. That was easy wasn't it.
