You can use a manual boost controller to help turn the boost down. However, I'll warn you that once you experience higher boost levels, you won't want to go back to lower levels. It would be in your best interest to look into some sort of upgraded ECU whether PFC, Haltech or a reprogrammed ECU to be able to support the upper boost levels.

I have the same problem SLO. I am trying to work it out by playing with the duty cycles. I turn the duty down and up, but it still seems to be having problems in 3rd. above say 6000K. Perhaps, the problem is boost spikes that I can't see on my gauge, or the monitor mode. The monitor mode doesnt measure a peak boost high enough to hit the fuel cut. I am thinking about turning the learn mode on for 3rd.
I may try to set one B mode for 10PSI...maybe 12PSI is too much for my fuel system at higher RPMS, but you would think if that were true that i'd see the same fuel cut in 2nd gear too.
Perhaps I am missing something all together(most likely the case). I am going to start the duty cycle low again and try moving them up 1-2% at a time in order to see if I can eliminate the problem. I am gonna "tune" it in 3rd gear vs 2nd like i did last time.
Oh well this was probably not any help, but I just wanted to add to your question as well as find out if the problem you are experiencing is the same.
Maybe some experts can help us out.

I actually just pulled the avcr out altogether today cos it wasnt a matter of playin around with the boost settings or the duty cycle the thing didnt work PERIOD, ripped it out re-routed the hosing as mr. mazda himself would and boosted fine 12-10-12/13ish but just tonight on third its still spiking up to 15-16 and stupid fuel cut would come on. Here in nz we dont have to have a cat so its 3inch straight thru so that'll be the cause of it. Anyways getting a pfc soon but how soon really does depend on my bank balance .
