Lighten Up

The reason the "0" on the AutoMeter gauge is a band & not a point is to compensate for changes in barometric pressure.

Most gauges have a hard stop for the needle & don't read both a vacuum & pressure.

If you want an accurate gauge, buy a liquid filled one. The liquid dampens out the needle vibrations & increases reliability. The downside is quick response time is reduced.

Just because the gauge is from Apexi, HKS or Greedy doesn't make it better. Do you really believe they make those in house? They are supplied by a gauge manufacture & have a custom gauge face, that's all.

You get what you pay for, I wouldn't generalize all AutoMeter gauges as CRAP, that's ignorant. You had a bad experience, get over it.

Well I picked this post because I like it the best So you think the way a car is driven effects a boost gauge more than the time it is driven huh? Hmmm... me thinks this is... well ya know. Race cars aren't driven that much compared to a road car period. I'd bet a typical NASCAR would have to be in service 4 or 5 years to equal one year of regular driving time. It doesn't matter how high the boost is or how often it is reached because we all know our gauges are in vacuum much of the time and surely this is just as hard on the gauge as boost right. If you want to talk how rough we are on them us daily drivers can hit 23 vacuum no problem. Anyway I have seen many autocrapper gauges reading off center. Personally mine read 2-3 psi off center when the car was off so unless I live 300000000 miles below sea level I think it was off. It also told me I was running at 18 psi max boost when I was really only running at 13-14. How did I test this you ask? Well I know because my engine didn't go boom. Even my friend with a super charged Mustang just put in a brand new autocrapper boost gauge about 9 months ago and it's already reading off center. They drift, they read high, they read low, they are crap. Now I'm not saying 100% of autocrapper gauges are crap because that is absurd but just remember that if you have a autometer gauge that is working great don't assume the rest of us bone heads that talk like I do are wrong. Pease,
cvs

your engine lives and dies by boost. overboosting can possibly kill your engine. now, are you gonna put the life of your engine on an innacurate and cheap gauge??

there has been enough evidence to prove to me that Autometer gauges are shitty. that is what i have to say. if you dont like it...too bad!
accrding to Swamp RX-7, i was a "smart ***" in the above post.
