automatic door lock problem?

im having a problem with the drivers side door.

when i press the remote alarm key pad, the driver side door will not unlock. the driver side interior door handle moves, but it does not unlock. the passenger side does lock and unlock, and the alarm is activated, since the light on the shifter pannel blinks.

if i turn the key in the passenger side key hole, the driver side door still does not unlock.

if i turn the key hole in the drivers side exterior, it does lock, and the passenger side also locks.

so whats broken...?

I've got the same problem pretty much. But my passenger side lock won't lock/unlock most of the time when I press the arm/disarm button on the remote. Any ideas Mike? Thanks...Tony

i took the door apart and the lower metal cable is snapped. thinking about welding it with some extra metal around it. do they sell a new cable seperate or do i have to replace the whole door lock to the door handle?
