Auto Trans Cooler Conversion

I just picked up a auto trans cooler to convert it to an additional oil cooer. My current cooler is pretty beat so i figured it would help quite a bit. Does anybody know of a good writeup for the conversion. I have searched but no luck.

Also has anybody attempted to use the oil cooler from an RX8 on the FD? Im trying to get my hands on one here at work to see for myself but no luck yet. So i was wondering if anybody has checked to see how similar they are and how difficult it would be to use.

1. Remove the stock nipples from the transmission cooler. Make SURE you keep those gaskets.
2. Either send them to me ( small fee ) or do it yourself - cut the nipples off. Buy two -10an x 1/2" npt STEEL fittings from summit.
3. Cut those -10an fitting in half.
4. Seal weld the -10an side of the fitting onto the stock tranny fitting ( that you cut the nipple off of.
5. Now you have the proper fitting with stock treads and gasket on on side and the -10an on the other.
6. Re-install these onto the oil cooler.
7. Mount the cooler.
8. Disconnect the hose from the present driver side cooler where it comes out of the oil pump ( front cover ). Leave it connected to the pump side, just remove the C-clip and pull the hose over toward the passenger side. This hose is where the oil will ORIGINATE from ( the pump of course ).
9. You will need to make another custom fitting. You will need two more -10an x 1/2" STEEL fittings and a OEM oil hose fitting ( got the number somewhere, forget for now ). Weld up this fitting ( see pics below )
10. This will be the oil supply to the pass side cooler. Oil flows from the pass side cooler to the driver side cooler ( like an R1 ). -10an fittings tie the braided hoses together.
11. The outlet of the pass side cooler will come back over to the remaining hose ( where the original hose connected ) and feed it. With the last custom fitting.

I know, confusing, but really simple. Really !
