My car has been on jackstands for like 6-8 months by now while I was tracking down parts and running into problems or just not having time. I rebuilt the transmission too so that took me a lot of time since I had never done one before. Those bearings are such a pain... I will never do that again without the correct service tools.

Anyways I have officially made the conversion from auto to manual. After priming the fuel and oil systems the car started right up yesterday and I drove it around the block. It was idling kind of funky and wanted to stall sometimes but Im just happy that I got it running (my Christmas present to myself). The car is still at my dads house because we just did a temporary job on the wiring for testing. So Im almost to the point that I can bring her home! I never did find on here how to wire up the sensors though. If someone documented it please let me know... otherwise I guess we're just gonna figure it out.

I just wanted to tell someone. Im pretty excited.

Grats man, its a painful process but well worth it.. By the time I was done I was able to do a tranny swap in two hours by myself.

As far as the wiring, just search around, it is scattered here and there in this forum. Been over a year since I did mine and that was the last thing I did so it was the first thing I dumped from memory.

I do know that I basically hooked up what would already plug in and then I jumpered the clutch switch instead of rewiring it, allowing me to start without having to push the clutch in. Other than that I think the nuetral switch and the reverse switch is all that is left and I didn't wire either up myself.

I wired up the reverse lights this weekend and jumped the clutch switch. I think I will just leave it like that until I swap harnesses. The car seems to drive great. It felt good to finally hit some backroads today and get the car out on the highway.

Have you guys all just used the auto ECU and then done the rewirement of the clutch switch etc etc ?

did you know when you change gears it will show up on the "selected gear section" in you gauge cluster?

I used the manual ECU. Havent wired up a clutch switch yet... just jumped the two big wires. And yes it says reverse on the guage cluster for me now when Im in reverse but it doesnt really bother me. One day when I have to rebuild my engine Ill swap the harnesses out for the real 5-speed stuff.

i need help repinning the harness for a auto to manual. i still have the auto dash harness and chassis harness, but have a five speed motor harness with a jspec motor.

What year/model FD do you have ?

So all you needed to do is jump the the wires. Did the automatic loom plug into the manual ECU alright ?

Ive got a 93 touring. The 5-speed ecu plugs right into the auto harness. To get the car to start all you have to do is jump the two big wires on the big harness connector that went down to the auto transmission. I wired up the reverse lights as well but none of the other sensors.

Cruise control might not work though but I left mine out anyways.

Yea it seems to drive fine. I havent connected the neutral switch or 1-2 gear switch. Pretty sure those are the only two left. The speedo sensor can just plug into the existing connector.
