Auto to manual: Not the tranny, the engine!

Hi guys,

A friend of mines motor blew and I am going to swap it. I found a good one that has more than 100PSI compression on all faces but the problem is that the engine was on an auto tranny and the rear housing differs from the manual one.

What do I need to make it fit? Do we need to make an adapter plate or something? Or is one sold somewhere out there? Or do I need to swap rear covers to make it fit? I really hope not...Anything else I should know before the **** hits the fan?

Thank you!

Spec.

You can use an auto rear iron on a manual tranny. Not all of the bolts will line up, but I believe 5 of them will, which is enough. Mine is an auto rear iron on a manual tranny and is a direct drop in.

Cool.

Now, how did you deal with the slightly larger pilot bearing? Did you shave the eccentric shaft?

And what about the starter? Does it have all the bolt holes to bolt right up?
