AST installation

I tried to reinstall the AST that had been removed. I fabricated some brackets to hold the AST up. My temps were going way to high so i removed it and they went down to 90c when cruising and 95c when flooring it. First of all, does it matter were you put the ast (level wise, i had it a bit lower than the t stat filler neck but higher than the radiator) and second, what temps should i be shooting for?

Thanks

Isn't it supposed to be the highest point in the cooling system so bubbles would migrate there naturally?

The only way you can get ti to the highest point would be to have it aove the throttle body......doubt that can be done.
