AST and filler neck caps?

hey i just discovered that my caps were swapped around compared to other FD's. I swapped them back now. Is it possible that my heater hose and heater core blew due to this?

The hose coming off the top of my AST was also blocked with a screw???? im thinking this is wrong!!

On an FD with an unmodified cooling system the cap with the spring is on the AST and the hose off of the top of the AST runs to the overflow tank. If the nipple on the top of the AST was blocked off and there was no place for the expanded coolant to go then the system will over pressurize and cause damage.
