AST crumbled whilst dismantling for rebuild!

I started taking things off (hoses, airbox, intercooler, etc.) in preparation to pull the engine, and the friggin' plastic AST fell to pieces, crumbling around the lower outlet fitting.
Probably was just a matter of time before it let go whilst driving, huh?

pic below of progress so far (yeah, I know...big deal! )

That is a sweet aluminum AST!

As for the rebuilder....not sure yet. I have to pay in to taxes this year, it may take a few months to scrounge up the moola. Looking for a small/mild streetport while I am about it. I've had several good builders mentioned by our good folks here on the Forum.

ijneb - If I don't get that RX-7store AST I might have to buy your Pettit if you still have it when I am ready to buy, thanks for the info.

Pray tell us why?

Ignorance is bliss. Unless you're Ferrari. They run a centrifugal type AST to remove vapor in the cooling system. Now why would Ferrari, whose car has its wiring loom running flat against the bottom of the car to lower the CG would mount an AST at the highest point on the engine?
