I wonder if amemiya's AST is one of good quality AST.
I'll definitely have to check it out to see if it has 1/64 hole at the bottom.
Now I'm contemplating whether I should install it or not.

 

I respect that as it is your car and you can do whatever you want with it. However, please don't have the audacity to provide such irresponsible claims:

You have only had personal experience with these cars for 4 years. How can you make a claim of 10 years when your own experience is not even half that time?

I have replaced 4 ASTs on my car. First one blew up when the car was 4 years old with 25K miles and the car was still under warranty. Not 22 years, not 10 years, but 4 years... My second AST broke right at the nipple due to being so brittle. Luckily I was fumbling with the hoses, created mechanical stress and it broke. The thing is that it didn’t look very green. It was just starting to be discolored but I guess you never know. My third AST was a pettit unit. Never really sealed right and ultimately ditched it for an OEM unit that I kept an extreme vigilant eye on. Finally I decided to delete it all together. Should had done that years prior

Like I originally said I prefer the OEM AST better due to being better quality. However one must keep a vigilant eye on them due to their propensity to fail.
