Angry arrrrrr black crap on my coolant dip stick

what is this black crap i check the coolant level on my 93 tt on sat and on friday this black crap looks lik wet lent on the top part of the stick, can anyone help what is it

I donno what that is, but I see that once in a while too. I just clean it up whenever I see it. Maybe it's time to flush the radiator.

When they build our motors they use petroleum jelly to hold some of the parts in until the motor gets together. The petroleum jelly then comes out into the overflow tank, nothing to worry about.

Also sometimes its the residue from newer coolant hoses. After replacing some coolant hoses, the black sludge started appearing. Seems to be getting less and less now.

Yeah I get this too, and it definitely looks like little bits of coolant hose. I always just flick it off when i check the coolant.

I just fixed this issue on my buddies 1991 Rx7. It just means that you need to flush the radiator. Thats all. It looks like dirt on the stick, and it functions about as well.
