Arrggg Smoke near turbos
Hey guys,
This time I got some smoke coming from what seems to be the secondary turbo area. I put on a midpipe yesterday and today my oil was kind of low (about a little less than half on the dipstick) so I added a quart of oil. I drove it around yesterday fine and earlier today fine with no burning smell and no smoke. I added the oil and took off, about a mile into my drive I noticed a burning smell, I pulled over poped the hood and noticed a nice amount of smoke.
Im not sure but I am assuming its my oil feed line. I am waiting for my car to cool so I can check it out but I'm hoping someone can tell me if there is another problematic area near the turbos that oil could be coming out of.
Also could this be because I added oil? I never noticed it before whenever I changed the oil. What would have happened if I added too much oil and did not notice. I don't think I did because before I drove I checked the dip stick for the oil level and it was just under full.
I will have to take it to my mechanic if I cant figure it out, will it be okay to drive like this or do I have to call a tow truck. The oil level seems to be staying constant.
Thanks
Ian

how old is your downpipe?
are you coufing out alot of smoke outta your tailpipe too?
if you are and the downpipe is old its probaly leaking the un burnt oil from the downpipe and coming out in your bay.

Could be the coolant line running to the turbo, they can break and you will see smoke from the area you are describing.
Could also be a leaking oil pan gasket. With low oil it wouldn't leak, but as you top it off the oil will be above the level of the gasket and could leak. I don't really think that it could get close enough to the turbos to cause smoke though.
