Argh Sr Motorsports

Dear God, I've never been led so astray in my life.

http://srmotorsports.com/sr93intk.html

"Installs in minutes with simple hand tools."

NO. NO IT DOES NOT. THIS IS IN FACT THE CONVERSE OF THE TRUTH. This installation is about as pain-free as passing a kidney stone. I'm serious, my hands are bleeding. The problem is, according to SR, that I have an upgraded radiator, so the placement of my fans is a bit higher up than it would be stock. I also have an upgraded intercooler which I had to remove. to wiggle this bitch in. I also had to disconnect my upper radiator hose. And remove that little fuse box by the passenger side headlight. And now I have to go to the store to get a hacksaw, so I can notch a part of my frame, just to get this ******* intake in. Seriously SR, what the hell, could you at least put a disclamer, or a little link for those of us who don't want our FDs to blow up and have upgraded radiators? In fact it doesn't even matter if I had an upgraded radiator or not, with the bolt holes still lined up there's a small piece of reinforcement that is still blocking the way. AAAAAAARRRRGHHHHH NOTHING EVER GOES IN LIKE IT SHOULD, THE ROTARY GODS WANT ME TO HATE/CUT. Sorry for bitching, had to vent.

I've never heard anything good about Shane Racing, and based on what I've read in the past 5 years, I don't trust their owner Ray Lochhead one bit. I'm not surprised, sorry to hear about it man.

I went there and picked up my parts in person, and everything was okay. I didn't mind paying slightly higher prices for things because they were local and I wouldn't have to wait on shipping. Their customer service has been fine, they answer all their calls and everything, it's just I wish they would have told me that installation wouldn't be very simple at all...

I've got a terrible thought in the back of my mind, too...looking at it I don't know if my radiator hose will be able to get back on the radiator after I install the box, there may be some clearance issues. I'll keep you guys posted.

I don't know what problems you could possibly be having. The SRM intake box is the same thing as the old rx7fashion box...which fits just fine.

Do you have a Koyo? What IC are you running? I have no issues with hitting braces or having to move fuse boxes. The thing fits better than the (smaller) PFS intake box ever did.

How do you really feel about them ?

Also I wouldn't consider cutting my car to make that thing fit correctly. That must be a bigass thing to hit the radiator hose

I have a Fluidyne and a PFS intercooler. I had none of the problems you mentioned and my car has not been known for "easy fitment" of parts.

I will give you that if you are coming from the stock intake, it is not a super easy and quick install in a few minutes, but you are doing something wrong if you are hitting fuse boxes or frame parts.

I felt the same way when I installed my PFS SMIC. I have a PWR radiator which raises the fans up a bit, so I had a hell of a time getting everything to fit right. You just have to expect this kind of stuff when dealing with aftermarket parts.

Yaaaaaay, finally got it on. That was a lot more work than I expected, and I still have to go get some small diameter silicone hoses for my air pump hookup and one of my bypass valves. Oh well.
