Anyway to hear turbo spool other than with an Air Intake?

Hey guys as the title says... Is there anyway to be able to hear the turbo spool with the stock airbox? I am not a huge fan of open filters int he engine bay but do enjoy hearing the turbos. Would a set of hard pipes allow one to hear the turbos or a modified airbox... or does running the stock airbox basically mean you cannot hear the stock turbos?

Thanks, Jason

I can hear the turbos with my modified stock airbox. I think most people can hear them once a DP is installed.

youll get a chubby listening to the turbos after the DP install. its like a different car, i think that will give you what your looking for.

i cant get enough listening to mine, i only hope when i do the RB duel tip it doesnt over power the spool up sound.

good luck with the install

+1 to all responses. The DP makes SUCH a difference! I have an insane sound system in my car that I don't even listen to half the time, as I'd rather listen to the engine.
I'm telling ya....a late night, no-traffic high speed run along a section of road that has concrete walls or tunnels, windows down and just ******' LOVING that sound....that is hard to beat! Wet ***** can equal it perhaps.....perhaps.

it won't. my friend has a dp, hf cat and a rb dual tip, and his turbos are still audible very clearly.

after driving my talon TSI for some time, my Rx7 sounds as quiet as could be. TID, and JUST a DP. Youll hear...everything....well until you have hearing damage, and then youll hear nothing.

FYI, I had my downpipe coated (and am also running an CAI, high flow cat, and exhaust) and can not really hear the turbos spool unless I listen hard. So you may want to skip coating if you want aural pleasure.

Well mine don't smoke, and they will boost 20psi easily. Don't ask how I know.

Yeah when I put my blitz intake and Pettit DP on that made the biggest difference in sound. Not sure which one made the biggest difference, but it sounds soooo sweet. The BR twins will not drown out the sound because that is what I am running and such a sexy sounds when they spool. Thats all I here and listen for it every time!!!

pppffffffsssssssssssssssssstt! ahhhh love it!

a different variation of that sound can mean the turbo(s) may be out of balance. . .

Cant wait! It is hard to see the car in my garage parked for winter since I bought it drove it twice and then had to store it for winter. Ahh well I will spend the winter doing the reliability mods and a couple of other goodies.
