Thats most of the mods. This is a daily drivable car with COLD A/C. Anyway, i think the new(er) RX-7's are the best looking cars ever made, PERIOD. I am looking to trade my car even for one, modded or not. Its also going in the shop this week to get a new $3500 paint job. If anyone is interested please email me at slither@adelphia.net

Yeah your car sounds sweet. Sell it outright, if you trade it you'll probably lose money. A guy locally just sold his highly modded '96(I believe) mustang for like 30k. So there are people out there looking to buy them.

I think you would make out a lot better if you were to sell the Mustang. Not to mention if you traded that car for one that had a few problems that weren't showing when you bought it you would probably regret doing it.

pm me, and i will call him....

BTW. he has a black 93 base w/leather, down pipe, and boost controller. original motor, only ~55K miles....the car is a ******* find.....

Oh and slither before you buy a 3rd gen, read up on them a little in here first, and make sure you know what to look for when buying one. When you do get one, have a compression test done, no matter the mileage. Not trying to steer you away but just trying to make sure you get one in good conditon with minimal problems.

too bad I'm on the wrong coast.

It's a 93 Vintage Red Touring. 94k. K&N drop in filter, HKS Super Dragger catback, Crane Cams plug wires, EBC crosspitted and slotted front rotors, hawk HP+ pads, greddy turbo timer, knighthsport front bumper, dunlop sp5000s with plenty of tread, R1 rear spoiler, and an optima red top battery. I also have vielside side skirts painted, but not installed, and a 2.5" mild steel mid pipe that isn't installed, and a pair of unobtanium differential bushings that haven't been installed, also a no-name boost gauge. haha, oh yeah, I have one half of an HKS intake (one of the two pipes/filter)..

Mazda USA remanufactured motor dropped in at 70k, radiator replaced at same time, power steering pump replaced around 85k, rear brake calipers rebuilt around 90k. Front sway bar mounts replaced less than 1k ago. Have all maintenance records since 69k when I bought it.

Problems? Leaky intake manifold gasket (causes a surging idle sometimes, and is probably leaking boost, idle can be stabilized by driving with the parking lights on), condensation in front combo lights, the aftermarket alarm is having problems (won't lock of unlock the doors by remote, still have to use the key, but the alarm does work), the paint on the front end isn't an exact match, there are a cuople door dings and rock chips, but overall the paint and body is in great shape. Interior is in great condition, no flaking like most 93s have problems with. Stock Bose CD player spits out the CD sometimes. Rear passenger bushing klunking. Missing the "X" in "RX-7" on the rear emblem. Passenger power mirror doesn't work (and doesn't pivot). And that's about it.

Pictures:
Sorry, I don't have any recent pics..But here are some old ones. Just imagine a different front end, big *** canister exhaust, and crossdrilled/slotted rotors.

Hey Martini. I had some water get into my front turn signal once from spraying it with a hose?? Anyway I took it off and used a shop vav on reverse (blowing) and held it to the hole where the light harness plugs in . No more water!! Try it out.

Slither...

You got one thing RIGHT..

Mazda RX7 TT FD3S, is the best looking car on the road.
Period.. Not including true exotic cars like Lamborghini's
and Mclaren F1's.

Jumping from Mustang to FD3S, is gonna be like Night
and DAY. From the RIDE, driving characteristics and
general perceptions. You get stuff like " is that a viper"
" is that a V8" LOL " is that a 2002"..

ITs obvious you are a Motor head car fanatic.. from
what you did to your mustang.. And if you put
as much time and effort in a FD3S.. Your car
would truely run, look exotic. And one last thing.
FD3S is a babe Magnet 100x more than the Mustangs

Domestic to Imports.. I guesss you finally seeing the
LIGHT...

Goodluck

Doesnt Ford own like 33% of Mazda?
And, its gonna be hard to find a car that gets more attention than mine does right now. I have never been anywhere that I didnt get looks from everyone.

Now, back to the topic, what should i look for in an RX-7? I know a compression test and just look the car over really well, but are there little things I should be checking for? Someone said watch out for boost spike?

I think it's a controlling interest, whatever the % is....

As for the topic, I doubt you'll find a FD owner on this board willing to trade, even with the $$ value lopsided. Like someone else said, sell it, then buy a cheap RX-7 with high miles and do you wrench monkey magic on it like you did with the Stang. And you'll have the best all-around performing car on the road. And of course the most beautiful...

The difference between the guy with the trans am and me is that my car will attract all the attention you could ever want.
When me and my buddy go cruising with him in his C5 vette and me in my old "rustang", guess who gets all the looks.
