Thanks for following up on this Tim.

I would really like to get some information on where a happy medium is, not starving the engine causing premature wear, but yet not enough that the engine is simply wasting it and burning it off, or causing undue buildup.

At this point I am blindly trusting that the Mazda engineers did there homework, and my extra little part is supplying the engine with a “superior” 2 stroke synthetic.

Why would you you use that on a RX ? , doesnt that fix the pump at one delivery rate ? I think its more suited to constant speed aplications like air planes , I think adapting a TII mechanical pump is a better bet .

haha, thanks. I actually got rid of all the blue in the engine bay since that picture...so the pulleys and the strut bar mounts are a gunmetal color now.

In my opinion the electrical adaptor allows for a different oil source and leaves the function of the OMP untouched and thus allowing the oil supply rate to chenge acc. engine rpm

Thats right, the only thing thats different for the 3rd is the mounting points. Nothing else changes, the pump is still controled by ECU. They should really change the name on the web site, because its confusing.

This is a great topic. Thank you to all that are contributing the information.

Not to divert the discussion, but I have a subject matter related question.
I have the S4 motor with the mechanical OMP.
Doesn't the mechanical pump rely on the over all oil system pressure to deliver the metered oil? Or it is an actual mechanical pump capable of delivering oil without engine oil pressure assistance?
Judging by the product offered by RA, the OMP should be able to use a gravity fed oil input. However, when I view the lubrication system diagram and description, it all points to force fed type of system.
If anyone could provide me a reasonable clarification, I would greatly appreciate it.

The OMP only taps into the engine pressurized system for an oil sorce. There is alot of discussion on this subject. It has been proven the omp is a pump!

The metering orfices in the rotor housings are another subject that no one has decided to take up with me, and I am very curious about them. If I ever get the chance to ask a Mazda engineer a question it would be about these two over looked jets.

I believe he was referring to the adjuster, not the adapter. There are multiple streams of thought in this thread.
