anyone with the Twin Turbo T-28 Kit?

i'm debating on what turbo to get, So far im down with the T04S, GT35/40 and the twin kit. While the t04 is easier to rebuild than the Gt35 and costs less, the Twin Kit is the most bling bling of the group..

Just curious if anyone actually has them and how well they work.

I can say that I have never sold one. I think the price and lack of data on the kit scares people off.

Jason, don't worry! When I get the money I will be ordering this kit. It will work well I think since its all custom and also I've worked on and driven the SR20DET blacktop motor with the T-28 ballbearing turbos. Very nice units and would be great on our cars. I'm looking forward to being a "guinea pig" so to speak.

I think the price outweighs the chance.. I think one of the shops should offer 1 unit at cost for the first person who buys one so they can be the guinepig for info and what not..

I was so close to buying them back when I got my t78 but lack of info and the price is rediculous. I can pick up t28s for 400 a peice.. so where does the other 4300 go?

just wait for the new bnrs...i hear good things about them.

i also heard that this setup should be laggy...not enough exhaust to spool both of them up quickly perhaps...this could be why they havent posted any dyno sheets for them. they must have dyno sheets by now.

I could be wrong.

Zero, tell us how you really think about the BNR's. I have heard they can be great, but I have also heard some horror stories. My turbo replacement is coming within the next year and I am going with 99's from Rx7.com. I also considered a Petit rebuild, but for similar money, I will take brand new. Maybe if I get real flush, after I get the 99's I'll send my current set to Petit for a spare set. First I guess I should change the plugs to see if I can unflood my f'ing FD.

if youre looking into more hp FROM TURBOS and arent a mechanical engineer then you should go with a PROVEN single turbo kit. . . its a kit for a reason. . . it goes right in. . . simple. . . proven. . . period.

i can say this. . . the bnrs will produce numbers. . . but i dont know how in depth you have to get on the new stage 3s. the ones that i know took MAJOR modification to make it look like the motor still had stock twins. they WILL make big numbers. . . but wont be installed easily by the novice mechanic.

2 t28's is alot more flow i believe than the 99's. the 99's are about the same size as the stockers, just with improved efficiancy.

well the results will be in soon enough. I believe they have a dyno day this month. Im excited to see how bryan and his boys do with their cars.

I rode in a car with a bnr set while I was at Gotham. They pulled like crazy. They pulled harder than mine did up top. pull and pull and pull and pull...that car put a smile on my face. It put a frown on some kid in his winged celica as well.

2 ceramic ball bearing T04E's w/ T3 exhaust sides on mine. Only part I'd wonder about with those pictures is the strength of the header section, holding up the turbos and exhaust can be a bit of a strain under torque, temp and vibration. We welded in 1/4" SS rods between the manifold plate and turbo flange to relieve some of the weight off the tubing and that was using Inconel tubes. To be fair I can't see much in that picture so it's just a random guess.

yes, there is a dyno day in march. . . unfortunately, the bnrs that i speak of wont be there. . . my car isnt satisfying me and the new bnr turbo car (david garfinkles) has no motor in it.

the car you rode in has the old stage 3s. . . very easy to install. . . richs car, obviously. the ones on davids car are nowhere near stock. it takes massive modification to make it work. . . though i dont doubt the power capabilities of the setup. his car should whip the holy doodoo out of my to4e car.

evidently, the turbos that are in davids car will be adapted to the stock compressor housings. this will make fitment a LITTLE better. the cartridges are still longer than the stockers and will require mods to the oil/h2o lines and possibly the transmission. im interested to see what THOSE turbos do.

The turbos in Garfinkles car are different than the new ones coming out. The ones coming out are using the stock compressor housing. They will bolt up just like the stockers do. The new ones coming out are still going to be tested by me on the 7th, Garfikles car was inteneded to see if the larger compressor housings make a difference but they werent going to be sold like that to the general public unless it worked, and even then someone would have to request it as an extra.

I was wondering when Bryan was going to dyno some of his new stuff - it's been about a year now since Stephen put down good numbers with the old 3s and I had my BNR 2s dynoed in March I think - can't remember. I'm still waiting for some more 400 rwhp dynos on BNR twins.
