anyone rebuild there own rotarys
I was just wondering who has gotten ballsy on here and tried to rebuild there own engine and how did it work out, to me it seems that the rotary would be easier to rebuild since it has half the parts inside as a piston type engine. Im guessing that there not that hard to rebuild, just that few people know how and the knowledge isn't widely passed around, since there isn't as many rotary's out as piston type motors. I don't own a rx7 but i will eventually get one im just trying to research a little before i get one, I want one not only because the car has such beautiful shape but so that i can learn hands on about the engine

people have done it, the thing is you have to triple check clearances that cant be more than .002" on EVERY seal and frankly its a pain in the *** if you dont get it just right cause then you have to tear it down and start again. You'll find everything you need to know to do a rebuild here on the site, and everyone will have their own little bits and pieces to add.
In any case if you want to rebuild it go ahead, find a kit and several of the major shops have how-to videos which are immensely helpful, and depending where you source the kit, you can be out less than a grand to do a rebuild yourself, but there's no telling how long it'll last.
