Looks like you didn't have to shave off much from the 99 spec front to clear room for the fmic. Good job!!!

Shinobi, please elaborate on venting the radiator.

I believe you mean 'ducting' the radiator. This is done to direct oncoming air into the radiator, which is vital due to it's new location. It's similar in effect to how the stock intercooler is ducted.

Here is an excellent thread from Damian, along with pics for a more detailed explanation. While it's not of a FMIC setup, the idea works the same.

Rock on! I always thought the gaps let air in as apposed to letting air out. Debatable?

Well technically, air is already 'in'. As far as I know though, flowing air will take the easist path of travel- following this logic, having gaps surrounding the radiator don't really help (also, we have an undercover for just this reason). The more air you can channel to directly hit the radiator, the better. The added con. of having a FMIC, is the air first hitting the IC, and not the radiator. Hope this helps.

Nice pic. Not sure what you're trying to show me though. Please forgive my n00biedness.
Shin, if what you say is true, then a vented hood would simply solve my problem?

A vented hood will help heat escape the engine bay, but it doesn't drastically lower coolant temps enough to be a single solution. With my experience (and mods thus far), the fan mod has been key.

Shinobi-x.. I been thinking of couple of things lately.. One thing is to cover the front top portion, where the radiator and hood latch is.. i hope you know what I mean...

I believe that some air will come thru the IC.. but than the air will flow out to the least restricted area.. which is the sides of the radiator and the top.. So, I'm thinking about doing what Damian has done.. to be honest.. I think for us fmic with verticle radiators, its better to close the top portion.. its lot bigger opening.. I'm going to do this mod this weekend.. i'll let you know how it turns out.. I would like to do it with nicer material.. but it might be thin sheet metal for now..

Do you mean something like this?

If I am getting you correctly, it looks like there will be very little space between the frame (along with the fuse box) and the radiator to work with.

Just remember too, that any air coming from the IC will also be warmer. I guess it becomes a tradeoff of how much air you have hitting your radiator vs how warm it it will. I don't think there is much we can do about the latter though, so your idea is worth a try. Keep us posted

Yep.. that's kind of what I was thinking.. except.. smaller.. And I know that I can't completely block off the air.. but at least I could reduce the flow rate.. and the warm air thing.. well, I know it will be an issue.. but still better than no air..

I'll keep you posted.. I'm going to work on a cardboard model today and test it out.. then an aluminum one..
