Anyone non-sequential think about going back to seq.
I've had my car back for a few months now with new street-port and non-sequential. I've been told I'd like it after awhile. Awhile is here and I miss the immediate spooling of the stock setup. It does pull extremely hard from 4500-redline but laggy below that. Doesn't full boost come on with stock below 3000 rpms? I always have to be in a lower gear to pass which is kind of annoying. I know how the stock sequentials eventually screw up and non-seq. is very reliable but I got all of my solenoids and vacuum lines removed - maybe it's time for a RX6 or T04E or S. Don't want to spend money though. Dave at KDR recommended putting the stock cat back on and the turbos will spool up much quicker. That thing weighs a ton and gets clogged and I also heard a stock cat doesn't work well with non-seq. What should I do here.

but how the hell would restricting exhaust spool the turbos quicker?? it is the other way around.
since you dont like the lagginess of your setup right now...a single, even an Apex RX6 BB, is not gonna spool faster. time to get some upgraded twins. if you want instant boost, cant go wrong with M2 BB twins.

A medium turbo will outperform the seq setup by 3.5k and will blow the non-seq away. Just take a ride in a single turbo car and you will see. The full non-seq is not really reversable. With your mods you should be making full boost before 4.5k if that is in fact what you are saying. You torque curve might go flat there .... but you could be making full or near full boost before then. The question is when do your non-seq turbos make more power than the seq turbos. The only real gear that lacks response is 5th in my opinion. If you want a good take off you drop the clutch at higher rpms anyway. It makes take offs so much easier.

Actually, some exhaust restriction will help with spool-up. Though I would go with a high flow cat, not the stock one. However it will take some power from your top end, especialy the stock cat. I think that the Rx6 and XS t04e do actually have less lag than stock twins that have been converted to non-sequential.

I went out and ran my car today to see when I get full boost. The car does rip and is very smooth in power delivery. I get 13 lbs of boost by 4K rpms which I think is good for non-seq. I never really watched the tach and boost gauge at same time - kinda hard when things are going by so fast. 5th gear is useless where the stock setup you could still pass with confidence. i think I'm just whining. The car is pretty fast especially between 4K and 6K. Maybe I'll upgrade the fuel system a little more and turn the boost up to 15 psi. Then when my turbos let go I'll probably go with the RX6 or T04E. The M2 BBs are made for replacing the stock twins aren't they? remember, I did the full non-seq. conversion so I would basically be setting them up in non-seq. setup which I've never head of anyone doing. I've heard good things about the smaller singles. For now I'll live with my non-seq.
