Anyone know what stock vac should be?

i have been wondering and no one has hit on it. I have an autometer *crap gauge* but it reads around 19 or 20 vac is that normal or what should it be?

That would seem a bit high as a healthy stock motor runs between 15 to 17hg. What kind of boost readings are you getting ? are they a little low ?

i get about 19 -20 vac at idle and the boost goes 10-8-10

Thanks Majik for that. I've been a little worried about my Vac readings at idle but compression tested out fine. Never considered that my streetport was a contributing factor to low vac.

Yup, my heavily ported motor pulls 10 to 12 inches vacuum at 900ish rpm, compression was 105 psi at all faces. That link is spot on

i've heard about porting affecting vaccum readings, but would a lower restriction intake filter/port matching change it at all? seems like that would make less restriction, so vacuum would be lower.
