Anyone here running 400+ hp on stock rims?

Just curious who is running this setup, and if they have any problems. I am running 245/45/16 and will be pushing around 430 atw.

Thanks
-Darren-

The new turbo goes in tomorrow if I get it in the mail from D-R. Haven't drove her since I brought her back from Arizona with a bad turbo.

The stock rims are the best. less than 16 pounds each and 8 inches wide. My car has been over 400 whp for a couple years and i only run stock wheels. I have an extra set of them for drag radials though. Surprisingly though, the car maintains decent traction with the 245/45/16 tires i have for the rear. I just wouldn't go drag racing with them.

You'll really only know when you get the setup running. I find it hard to believe that you won't have traction problems with 400 legitimate horsepower to the ground and 245's - maybe if you never get on it in 1st or something. You will definitely need some VERY sticky tires, but even then you might have issues.

Take your time once you get the car running - loss of traction is an easy way to wreck a car!

I've got 285's!!!! sticky ones too, and I have less than 400HP...and can't get them to stick through first no matter how long I slip the clutch. Good luck w/ 245's and 400HP

How many posts are you at buddy? Seems you started off on the Honda board before you came here.... I'm sure everyone got the point, rim/wheel - nobody really gave a crap until you came along.

360-370 whp and i went back to the stock wheels to fund my 3rd motor. Toyo T1Rs in 245/45/16 hook up very well. A little slip in 2nd at WOT 5000rpm+ but very controllable.

I would take a grippy tire in 245 over a mediocre tire in a 275 or 285 size any day. I had 17x10 Volks rear with 275/40/17 and they werent much better than my current setup

I'm running Nitto DRs (245s) on stock rims. I can break them loose/walk slightly in 2nd, bark 3rd and sometimes 4th as well in the fall weather, but thats about it. However, on hard launches I'll spin first without much of a problem.

I've got 380whp with stock rims and rubber still and first and second are nothing but wheel spin, sometimes it will spin alittle bit in 3rd but thats rare. As soon as i can afford rims im getting them just so i can atleast get some traction in 2nd!!

I'm putting down about 410-420 whp and I can hook in on the stock 225 tires, even in first, but it goes by so quickly. If i shift hard into 2nd it'll let loose but other than that, i always hook up. However, i did take it to the strip once, that was a mistake, i was spinning all over the place.
