Anyone ever had an oil line come off with engine running?

My Aeoroquip socketless hose came off while I was idling at a light. I went thru the light and shut off the engine.

Needless to say, I lost all of the oil.

If this had ever happened to you, did your engine bearings failed later?

No way to really know, I am assuming you have already restarted it at this point? If you caught it soon enough it is possible no damage was done, if any major damage was done it will make itself apparent rather quickly.

Hate to hear about your luck.

After I got it towed home, I poured oil into the engine, started it up to pull into the garage. It seems fine.

I have seen mechanics run a car without oil for a few minutes by accident and nothing seemed to happened.

Well, stupid me, I used a clamp on the socketless hose. I just found out that you're not supposed to do that as it rips the internal clamping liner when the clamp compresses radially onto the barb.

On the fitting, I can see a piece of the inner liner still on the barb.

i had a mechanical oil pressure gauge that blew out, the car was only running for about 3 seconds (blew out right as i was parking) and dumped about 3 quarts of oil.
