Anybody in here knows Supras??? I want to buy a Supra for daily driver , i need help

Hello! People! i got a question for yall. Im a FD Owner and I love my car and my wife is in love with RX7s and Supras, We just sold our MX-6 which was our daily driver. Now we are on the market for a daily driver car
Now we are looking to buy this Supra, Is 95 White 104.000 Miles on it. I believe is the base model with a targa top, NON-Turbo! Automatic! No we both wanted a 5 speed but we know the guy who owns the dealer and he is only selling for $500 more of what he bought the car for. I hate automatic but i figure is a daily driver and is for my wife so...

The dealer Tag says $21K and he is selling it to us for $19k. It seems like a good deal but i dont know anything about supras as i know my 7's

Is this a good price for this car?? Which Model is it??? How fast is this thing, how much Horsepower and is it more reliable than the Twin Turbos or the SE Supras. Please someone help and give me advise
Thanks

Note: im buying this Car this coming up Monday so please any ASAP help is valuable.
Thanks

uhh?

spuraforums.com......

im sure the supra guys would love to se an rx7 owner inquiring about a mkiv supra. they would then proceed to tell you that....."with a little work, this car will decimate all others....."

Well, supraforums would be better....

but Kelly Blue book on a 95 N/A supra with targa top, CD, and leather is 17k RETAIL for mint condition. Even if it's mint, I wouldn't pay more than 16k and 15-15.5k is more like it.

Although it's a daily driver, say your in your "n/a" Supra and some Honda ricer comes up beside you wanting to play - so you play and get trounced - n/a auto Supras are worthless and really gives a bad name for the Supra guys. It's kind of like the 3000GT SL - it's just like....why? I like the FD since they are ALL twin turbo. It's your money - I have a LS200 Saturn for a daily driver. Gets 33 mpg, auto, very nice car and doesn't draw attention to ricers.

All SE's are non-turbo. N/As have 220 hp and TTs have 320 hp.

I think you can do a lot better. Look at www.autotrader.com for what the market price is. I'm sure it's a lot less. Hope this helps.

Thank you guys for the advise. I did go to Autotrader.com and Cars.com and found the exasact same car for a lot less. I wasnt able to find a TT Supra w/ 6 speed for less than 26k.

We decided not to get and wait around until we are able to find TT Supra, white in 5 or 6 speed. My while is picky with cars just like I am and I know she will get tired of driving an automatic plus I also think is just a wait fo money to get an Automatic Non Turbo Supra

I wouldnt even mind a non-turbo but At least we have to have 5 speed, We will keep looking I guess and Imgoing to give a call to a couple of NJ Dealers that have non-turbo white 5 speed Supras.

Thanks everyone for the Advise!

Oh yeah! and my friend did get ripped off he bought 2 White Automatic Supras from the Same family for 19K a piece. He showed me the Purchase Orders, I told him he was dumb and I showed the Kelley's Blue Book Value and it showed the Value for $15.750K

After researching I came to the conclusion that Supras are overpriced, Amazing MAchines if you find the TT w 6 speed but the rest is garbage.

I dont know if you guys are aware but i found out why a lot of Stock Supras are afraid of my 7 around town!

aCCORDING TO THIS
There is 2 types of Supra Engines
3.0L 220 hp I6 3.0L 320 hp I6
Horsepower 220 @ 5800 RPM 320 @ 5600 RPM

Torque (lb-ft) 220 @ 3800 RPM 315 @ 4000 RPM

Displacement (cc) 2997 2997

Turbo/Supercharger No Turbo

Bore X Stroke (in.) 3.39 X 3.39 3.39 X 3.39

Compression Ratio 10.5 8.5

Fuel Type Gas Gas

Fuel System SEFI SEFI

That means That a 220 RWHP Should be as easy to beat as a non-turbo 300ZX Guaranteed. ive never tried it but i think now I will have the confidence to eat a couple of Supras

Wanna bet?? 5spd AT

sometimes, just sometimes if you look hard enough, you can find a TT Supra 6spd for under 22K in good condition. Trust me, I almost bought one. I had $21K cash and the guy wanted $21K but was about 1K miles away. I just couldn't spend more than that. Search as hard as you can and be willing to leave the state if possible to find one. One thing is true though, they are very overpriced

The automatic in the MKIV TT is a 4-speed. I had one for my daily driver for three years.

6-speeds are going to be difficult to find (as are any MKIV turbos... the RX-7 TT outnumbers the MKIV Supra TT by about 2:1), but you shouldn't dismiss the automatic cars. They make great daily drivers (which is what you're looking for, right?) and are much quicker than you'd think. Don't judge an automatic Supra TT by what you may have heard about or experienced with other cars. They'll make a little less power than a 6-speed car with the same mods, usually (which is to be expected... more frictional losses), but they are very, very fast all the same.

Why don't you look for a used Lexus IS300? It is the same N/A motor as the Supra from what I've looked into and it is much more practical than the Supra.

If you want a daily driver, I think the IS is a much more stylin car plus you'll have a real trunk and can carry adults besides two kids in the rear.

I agree, I would get a sporty sedan daily driver. Might cost more than your budget right now BUT if you get a TT Supra eventually you will be all over again and spend money on mods that would of gotten you a nice BMW daily driver or something.

Get a 4 door used M3 E36, nice car.

That is very true! Yet my wife and I love Supras and FDs! We already have an FD and a white supra will do fine. She doesnt even mind if its non-turbo as long as its manual transmition!
That will do until she gets out of the Air Force and we can buy an 2002 ///M3

i totally agree!!!! get a second gen if you dont want to spend a lot of money. . . rx-7 or supra. they are just cheaper. . . period. i know of a red mkIII supra with a bad motor i might be able to get to you for about 1500.00. its in good shape, just needs a paint job really. the guy is just one of my idiot friends and he blew the motor with oil starvation. . . OUCH!!!! haha. just a thought, man.

If you want to get a Supra, and can't afford all that much, then go for the N/A. It sounds more like you just want the car, rather than the power. Kinda like people that buy V6 Mustangs, they just want to own one because it's a Mustang, not because it's fast.

The N/A Supra's are dog's compared to the TT's, but they get pretty decent gains from mods considering the don't have a turbo.

But like you've pointed out, the price for this particular one is very high. Just wait, you'll find one, hell you might even run into a TT in your range!

Man, you are going to be stuck with that car for life ! You will NEVER be able to sell it should you want to get something else later on.
