I'm having a problem starting up when the temperature outside is 50 degrees or lower. The car will turn over but the fuel pump won't pump. I'm always able to get the car started by jumping the fuel pump to ground at the diagnostic cube under the hood. After the car has fully warmed up the problem seems to go away until the next morning when all is cold. A couple of questions then. 1: Would I be doing any harm by leaving the fp and gnd jumpered all the time? 2: Does this sound like a case of a poorly grounded fp or does the problem lie with the fp relay or the fp itself? Last winter was the first time I experienced this problem. After running through the troubleshooting procedures outlined in the shop manual, I concluded it was a bad ground connection at the fp. I cleaned and scuffed up the fp ground connection and used a star washer to bite into the metal on top of the fuel tank. This seemed to take care of things until this winter when the problem started all over again. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
